Usage Instructions
All surfaces must be structurally sound, clean, and completely dry prior to application. Any traces of old paint, dust, grease, oil, mold, salts, or other surface contaminants must be thoroughly removed.
Mechanical preparation methods, such as grinding or shot blasting, are recommended to achieve a clean, roughened, and sound substrate, free from laitance, release agents, and surface protrusions.
The surface moisture content shall not exceed 8%, and the substrate pH must be no greater than 9. During both preparation and application, the substrate temperature must not fall below 10°C.
Ensure the substrate is fully dry and prepared prior to priming. For enhanced adhesion on porous or rough surfaces, an appropriate MMA-based primer may be applied depending on site conditions. Allow the primer to cure before proceeding with the application of Vetotop MC361. Do not apply on wet or damp surfaces.
Vetotop MC361 is supplied as a two-component system, consisting of Part A (base) and Part B (Hardener). Prior to mixing, Part A must be stirred thoroughly using a low-speed mechanical mixer (300–400 rpm) to ensure a uniform consistency. Once adequately stirred, add the entire quantity of Part B into Part A, and mix rapidly and continuously until a homogeneous mixture and uniform color are achieved. Care must be taken to ensure complete blending, as insufficient mixing may affect the performance of the applied material.
The correct mixing ratio must be strictly observed to achieve optimal results. The mixed material has a limited pot life of approximately 10 to 12 minutes at 20°C and should be applied immediately after mixing to avoid material wastage and to ensure proper workability. Over-mixing should be avoided to minimize air entrainment.
Vetotop MC361 shall be applied only under controlled environmental conditions, ensuring that the substrate temperature is not less than 10°C and the relative humidity does not exceed 70%.
The material may be applied using a squeegee, trowel, roller, or approved mechanical equipment, depending on the system type. For anti-skid systems, the first coat should be applied at a thickness of 1000 μm using a squeegee or trowel, followed immediately by broadcasting silica sand aggregate uniformly onto the wet surface using the dropon method. Once fully dry, any excess aggregate must be removed, and a second coat should be applied at 500 μm using a roller. After complete curing, a clear top coat shall be applied at 100 μm dry film thickness (DFT).
For smooth finish systems, a single coat is applied at a thickness of 1–3 mm using a squeegee or trowel, followed by the application of a clear top coat at 100 μm DFT after curing.
In road marking applications, for plain line markings, one coat is applied using a roller, drop box, hand-pushed, or extrusion machine, with glass beads added to enhance reflectivity as required. For Spotflex, textured, or profile applications, the material should be applied using extrusion-type or handpushed machines, with the option of adding glass beads. Upon full curing, a clear top coat may be applied where necessary. Vetotop MC361 is supplied ready to use and should not be thinned under any circumstances.
Drying times are influenced by ambient temperature, air circulation, and the applied film thickness. Under standard conditions at 25°C, the material typically reaches a hard dry state within 30 minutes and can be opened to traffic after the same period, provided proper curing has been achieved.
All tools should be cleaned with Vetonit Solvent XX400 immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
