Vetotop DecoFloor Screed
High performance, solvent-free, three-component, seamless epoxy resin body coat for decorative epoxy terrazzo flooring system
Vetotop DecoFloor Screed is a high performance, solvent-free, three-component, epoxy resin-based body coat/screed, formulated to receive colored mineral aggregates, marble chips, or glass chips to create seamless, decorative epoxy terrazzo flooring. The system consists of a pre-measured base resin, hardener, and selected aggregates that, when mixed on-site, form a chemically resistant screed. Designed for both functional and aesthetic performance, Vetotop DecoFloor Screed provides a hard, monolithic finish with excellent resistance to wear and impact. The product is suitable for use in a wide range of high-traffic commercial and institutional environments where hygiene, long-term durability, and decorative finish are essential. Once cured, it forms a dense, jointless surface capable of being grinded and polished to a smooth, semi-glossy appearance. Vetotop DecoFloor Screed is applied ready to receive Vetotop DecoFloor Grout layer and Vetoseal UC775 to complete the full DecoFloor Terrazzo system build-up.

Usage Instructions
Concrete substrates must be structurally sound, clean, and free from laitance, oil, grease, dust, curing agents, or any loose or weakly bonded material that may affect adhesion.
The substrate must be fully cured and prepared by mechanical means such as shot blasting or grinding to achieve a suitable surface profile equivalent to ICRI CSP 3–5. All blowholes, cracks, and surface irregularities must be repaired using an approved epoxy mortar from the Vetorep ER product range. Once the surface has been prepared, it must be primed with Vetoprime EP691 and treated with the crack suppressant membrane layer in accordance with the system specification. Vetotop DecoFloor Screed shall only be applied over fully cured and clean Vetotop DecoFloor Membrane. Ensure the surface is dry and free from contaminants prior to application and confirm flatness to meet the required system thickness tolerances.
Vetotop DecoFloor Screed is supplied as a threecomponent system comprised of Part A (resin), Part B (hardener), and Part C (colored aggregates). Precondition all components to a temperature between 18°C and 25°C before mixing. Empty Part A (resin) into a clean, dry mixing pan and stir briefly using a low-speed drill (300–400 RPM) with a spiral or paddle-type mixer. Add Part B (hardener) into the resin while mixing continuously. Continue mixing for 2 minutes until a uniform blend is achieved. Transfer the mix to a forced-action mixer, and gradually add Part C (aggregates), maintaining a mix ratio of 2.5 – 3.5 parts aggregate to 1 part binder. Mix for a further 2–3 minutes or until a uniform, moist screed consistency is obtained with all aggregates properly wetted by the binder. Transfer mix into a clean container (“re-pot”) to avoid unmixed material stuck to the sides or base. Do not add water or solvent. Do not mix partial quantities.
Pour the freshly mixed Vetotop DecoFloor Screed onto the substrate and spread immediately using a steel trowel, notched rake, or screeding bars to the desired thickness (typically 8–10 mm). Level the screed evenly. For best results, use spike rollers or serrated trowels to help de-air the layer and ensure even aggregate distribution. Once screeded and semi-set, press or seed decorative chips (if additional broadcast is required). Allow the screed to cure sufficiently before commencing the first stage of mechanical grinding using a 3 or 4 head mechanical grinding machine. After grinding, vacuum the surface thoroughly to remove all dust and debris. Proceed with the application of the grout layer (Part A + Part B only, without aggregates) to fill all surface pinholes and microvoids prior to sealing or final polishing.
Typical initial set of the Vetotop DecoFloor Screed occurs within 12 to 24 hours at 25°C, after which light foot traffic may be permitted depending on site conditions. Full mechanical and chemical cure is achieved after 7 days. Lower ambient temperatures may significantly extend the curing time and should be accounted for during scheduling. During the curing period, the surface must be protected from water, chemical exposure, and mechanical abrasion to ensure proper film formation and long-term performance.
All tools should be cleaned with Vetonit Solvent XX400 immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
