Vetoproof PC723

Single-component hydrophobic polyester protective and curing coating for concrete.

Vetoproof PC723 is a single-component, water-based protective coating formulated with hydrophobic polyester resin technology. It cures to form a continuous, UV-stable barrier that protects concrete against water penetration, chloride and sulphate ingress, chemical exposure, and surface abrasion. The product can also function as a concrete curing compound, combining moisture retention and long-term surface protection in a single application. Vetoproof PC723is suitable for application to recently placed, damp concrete and contains no coal tar or hydrocarbon-based solvents.

Uses

  • Suitable for protecting below-ground and above-ground concrete structures.
  • Foundations, retaining walls, basements and concrete box culverts.
  • Preventing deterioration caused by water, chlorides, sulphates and aggressive ground conditions.
  • Providing a protective coating to recently placed, damp concrete.
  • Use as a concrete curing compound in accordance with ASTM C309.

Advantages

  • Ready to use.
  • Dual-purpose system providing concrete curing and protective coating in one application.
  • Forms a hydrophobic barrier with very low water absorption and resistance to water penetration.
  • Resists chloride and sulphate ingress, helping protect concrete against corrosion and deterioration.
  • Excellent resistance to a broad range of chemicals and contaminated water.
  • Superior abrasion resistance.
  • Can be applied to young, damp concrete.
  • UV-stable and suitable for exposed applications.
  • Water-based with low VOC content.
  • Free from coal tar, pitch and hydrocarbon-based solvents.
  • Easy to apply by brush or roller.
  • Multiple applications can be taken from the same container, reducing material wastage.

Usage Instructions

The concrete substrate must be sound, clean and free from laitance, dust, dirt, oil, grease, curing compounds and other contaminants that may impair adhesion. Remove weak or loose material by suitable mechanical means.

Porous or highly absorbent substrates should be predampened with clean potable water for 30 minutes. Allow excess water to drain before application. The surface may remain damp but must be free from standing or running water.

Vetoproof PC723 is supplied as a single-component, ready-to-use coating. Stir thoroughly using a slow-speed mechanical mixer until a uniform consistency is achieved. Do not dilute or add water unless specifically approved by Saveto.

Apply Vetoproof PC723 uniformly by brush or roller onto the prepared substrate. A two-coat application is recommended for protective coating purposes.

Apply the second coat at right angles to the first after the initial coat has dried and within the specified recoating interval. Ensure complete and continuous coverage without pinholes, missed areas or excessive film build-up.

For vertical surfaces, the product may be applied at a wet film thickness of up to 600 µm per coat. Protect the completed coating from damage during subsequent construction activities.

Damaged or discontinuous areas must be repaired before exposure or backfilling. Lightly abrade the affected surface with an emery cloth to provide a suitable mechanical key, remove all dust and reapply Vetoproof PC723 to restore coating continuity and the specified film thickness.

Allow Vetoproof PC723 to cure naturally under ambient conditions. The coating becomes surface dry within approximately 35-40 minutes and may be recoated after 6-7 hours. An initial cure is achieved after 24 hours, while full curing requires 7 days at +25°C. Protect the freshly applied coating from rain, water exposure, dust and mechanical damage throughout the curing period. Lower temperatures and high humidity may extend the stated curing times.

Clean tools and application equipment immediately after use with clean water while the product is still wet. Mechanically remove hardened material.
