Vetourea PUA793
Advanced, two-component, fast-curing, spray-applied hybrid polyurea-polyurethane waterproofing membrane.
Vetourea PUA793 is an advanced, two-component, spray-applied polyurea-polyurethane hybrid waterproofing membrane. It is formulated to cure rapidly to form a seamless and elastic membrane with excellent crack-bridging properties.
The system is applied using dual-component heated spray equipment and reacts to produce a continuous waterproofing layer suitable for both exposed and non-exposed applications. Vetourea PUA793 exhibits good adhesion to properly prepared substrates including concrete, cementitious screeds, bituminous substrates, metal, brick, masonry, ceramic tiles, and other compatible construction surfaces. For exposed applications, the membrane must be protected with a suitable UV-resistant topcoat to ensure long-term performance.
Uses
- Ideal for a wide range of exposed and non-exposed roofing applications.
- Waterproofing of flat roofs, podiums, and terraces with suitable UV-protective topcoats for exposed roofs.
- Podium decks, planter boxes, and landscaped areas (below protection layers).
- Concrete substrates in non-trafficable areas with suitable UVprotective topcoat.
- Waterproofing beneath screeds, tiles, and protection boards.
- Crack-bridging membrane for complex details and irregular substrates.
Advantages
- Seamless, joint-free waterproofing membrane.
- Good adhesion to properly prepared concrete and compatible substrates.
- Rapid curing.
- High elasticity.
- Excellent crack-bridging properties.
- Very easy and uniform application.
- No shrinkage after application.
- Achieves design thickness in a single pass.
- Excellent wetting and penetration into substrate pores.
Usage Instructions
All substrates must be sound, clean, dry, and free from contaminants such as dust, dirt, oil, grease, curing compounds, laitance, loose particles, and any substance that may impair adhesion.
Concrete substrates must be fully cured and mechanically prepared to achieve adequate surface strength. Surface defects such as honeycombing, blowholes, cracks, and voids must be repaired prior to application using suitable Vetorep repair systems. Sharp edges should be rounded, and surface irregularities removed.
The substrate temperature must be between +5 °C and +50 °C and at least +3 °C above the dew point during application and curing. Relative air humidity must not exceed 85%. The substrate moisture content must be ≤ 4% by weight. Rising moisture or negative water pressure is not permitted.
Prior to application of Vetourea PUA793, the prepared substrate must be primed using Vetoprime EP491. After mixing, the primer shall be applied uniformly to the substrate using roller, brush, or suitable spray equipment. The primer must be allowed to cure tackfree before application of the waterproofing membrane. Application of Vetourea PUA793 must take place within the recommended overcoating window of the primer. If this window is exceeded, the primed surface must be mechanically abraded and cleaned prior to application.
Vetourea PUA793 is supplied as a two-component system comprising Part A (Resin) and Part B (Hardener). Prior to application, each component must be thoroughly agitated using a drum stirrer to ensure uniform consistency. The material shall be applied using air-driven or electrical dual-component, heated, high-pressure spray equipment, calibrated to deliver both components in a 1 : 1 ratio by volume. Equipment settings must be maintained to ensure proper mixing and consistent spray quality during application.
Application Vetourea PUA793 shall be applied only to properly prepared and primed substrates. Application must be carried out by trained applicators using suitable air-driven or electrical dual-component, heated, high-pressure spray equipment.
The material is spray-applied in a continuous and uniform manner to achieve the specified membrane thickness. Application shall be carried out in multiple passes as required to ensure full coverage and consistent film build. Care must be taken to avoid pinholes, voids, or dry spray.
For exposed roof applications, a UV-resistant protective topcoat is mandatory. Vetotop UC371 is recommended where a glossy finish is required, while Vetotop UC372 is recommended for a matt finish. The topcoat shall be applied once the membrane has cured sufficiently, within the overcoating window of approximately 2 hours.
Detailing around penetrations, joints, corners, upstands, and terminations must be carried out carefully to ensure continuity of the waterproofing membrane. Complex details should be treated first prior to full field application.
Vetourea PUA793 cures rapidly after application, forming a continuous and seamless waterproofing membrane. Under standard site conditions, the membrane becomes tack-free within approximately 10 minutes and becomes rain resistant shortly after application. Full curing and development of final mechanical properties occur 7 days after application. Curing times may vary depending on ambient temperature, substrate temperature, and relative humidity.
Tools and equipment must be cleaned immediately after use using Vetonit Solvent XX400. Once cured, hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
