Vetofix Vinyl

High performance, single-component, ready-to-use acrylic vinyl floor adhesive with extended open time.

Vetofix Vinyl is a high performance, single-component, ready-to-use, water-based acrylic dispersion adhesive designed for the installation of PVC floor coverings. It offers an extended open time, allowing easy positioning and adjustment of flooring materials during installation. The adhesive develops high initial tack, forming an elastomeric film with strong final bond strength, ensuring reliable performance for both commercial and residential applications. Vetofix Vinyl is formulated with low VOC emissions, making it suitable for use in indoor environments where airquality standards are critical.

Uses

  • Suitable for textile floor and wall coverings with latex, PVC, or PU backings in interior areas.
  • Suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial environments with medium to heavy traffic.
  • Applicable on level, absorbent substrates such as concrete, screeds, and levelling compounds.
  • Suitable for use over underfloor heating systems.
  • Withstands static and dynamic loads under intensive service conditions.
  • Resistant to chair castor loads in accordance with EN 12529.
  • Suitable for homogeneous and heterogeneous PVC sheet floorings.
  • Cushioned vinyl and multilayer PVC floor coverings, vinyl composition tiles (VCT).
  • Suitable for flocked textile flooring and PVC wall coverings.

Advantages

  • Easy application.
  • Excellent workability.
  • Long open time for flexible installation.
  • Excellent wetting and adhesion to PVC backings.
  • Forms a tough, elastic adhesive film.
  • High peel strength and durability under service loads.
  • Non-flammable and suitable for indoor use.
  • Very low VOC emissions.

Usage Instructions

Substrates must be dry, sound, level, mechanically strong, and free from dust, loose particles, cracks, oil, grease, wax, paint, curing compounds, rust, gypsum residues, or any substances that may impair adhesion. Cementitious substrates must be fully cured and have a moisture content in accordance with applicable local regulations. It is essential to ensure that no rising damp is present; substrates not protected against rising moisture are not suitable.

Unbonded screeds laid over lightweight concrete or insulation, as well as screeds laid directly onto the ground, must be separated by an effective vapor barrier. Nonabsorbent or uneven substrates must be treated with a suitable smoothing or levelling compound to achieve a uniform, absorbent surface, with a minimum thickness of 2 mm. Any cracks, weak areas, or surface defects must be repaired and consolidated prior to application using an appropriate repair mortar from the Vetorep product range.

Vetofix Vinyl is supplied ready to use and requires no premixing or dilution. Before application, the adhesive should be stirred briefly in the container to ensure a uniform consistency. Do not add water, cement, or any other materials, as this may adversely affect performance.

Vetofix Vinyl is applied evenly onto the prepared substrate using a suitable notched trowel. For thin wall coverings, a long-nap roller may be used as an alternative, ensuring complete wetting of the backing. Allow a waiting time of approximately 10–20 minutes, depending on application quantity, substrate absorbency, ambient temperature, and relative humidity, before laying the floor or wall covering. Only apply as much adhesive as can be covered within the open time.

Place the covering into the adhesive bed while it is still wet or semi-dry and press firmly to collapse the adhesive ridges and achieve full contact. Carefully smooth or roll the covering to eliminate air pockets and ensure proper adhesive transfer, paying particular attention to seams and edges. After installation, re-roll or firmly rub down the covering to secure final adhesion.

Waiting and open times may vary depending on temperature, humidity, and substrate absorbency, and will be shorter at higher temperatures and lower humidity, and longer at lower temperatures, higher humidity, or on low-absorbent substrates.

Vetofix Vinyl cures through evaporation of water, forming a tough and elastic adhesive film. Initial bond strength develops progressively after installation and is influenced by substrate absorbency, ambient temperature, and relative humidity. Light foot traffic is generally possible after approximately 3 – 5 hours, while full service performance is typically achieved after 24 – 48 hours under normal site conditions. Lower temperatures, higher humidity, or lowabsorbent substrates may extend curing time. During curing, the bonded covering should be protected from moisture, heavy traffic, and mechanical stress.

While still wet, Vetofix Vinyl can be removed from floor or wall coverings, tools, hands, and equipment using clean water. Once cured, the adhesive can only be removed mechanically or by using a suitable solvent such as Vetonit Solvent XX400. Tools and application equipment should be cleaned immediately after use to prevent hardened residue.
