Vetotop DecoFloor Primer

High performance, solvent-free, two-component, epoxy-based primer.

Vetotop DecoFloor Primer is a high performance, solvent-free, two-component, epoxy-based primer designed for professional use, offering excellent adhesion and sealing properties for concrete and cementitious substrates. Developed to meet stringent standards, it ensures a durable and reliable base layer for subsequent coatings in industrial and commercial applications.

Uses

  • Ideal for priming concrete and cement screeds exposed to light to medium mechanical stress, such as in storage facilities, assembly areas, maintenance workshops, garages, and loading docks.
  • Serves as an excellent seal coat for broadcast systems, including multi-level and underground car parks, maintenance hangars, and moisture-prone areas like those in the food and beverage industries.
  • Well-suited for diverse industrial sectors including Food & Beverage, Pharmaceuticals, Clean Rooms, Power Plants, and Water Treatment Facilities.
  • Recommended for mechanical spaces, storage zones in office buildings, exhibition centers, and retail showrooms.

Advantages

  • Solvent-free.
  • Easy to apply.
  • Deep substrate penetration.
  • Excellent bonding strength.
  • Provides a liquid-tight barrier.
  • Excellent chemical and mechanical resistance.
  • Short overcoating interval.
  • Suitable for absorbent mineral substrates.
  • Seals surface to prevent dusting and particle release.

Usage Instructions

The substrate must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, existing coatings, and surface treatments. Remove all dust, loose, and friable materials thoroughly before application, preferably by vacuum. Suitable preparation methods include light grit blasting, surface grinding, or similar techniques to achieve a sound, rough surface profile.

Any spalled, fractured or defected asphalt and concrete surface must be repaired to allow Vetotop DecoFloor Primer to bond effectively to sound, monolithic surfaces. Use an epoxy mortar from the Vetorep ER range to repair all necessary areas before applying.

New concrete surfaces must have a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm2 and a pull-off strength of at least 1.5 N/mm2. Concrete must be at least 28 days old and have a moisture content of ≤5-6% before application.

Vetotop DecoFloor Primer must be mixed using a low-speed electric mixer (300–400 rpm) equipped with a suitable mixing paddle. Before mixing, stir Part A (Resin) thoroughly using a mechanical stirrer to ensure uniformity. Slowly add the entire quantity of Part B (Hardener) into Part A and continue mixing for approximately 3 minutes until a homogeneous blend is achieved.

To ensure complete and even dispersion, transfer the mixed material into a clean container and re-mix briefly. Avoid overmixing, as it can lead to air entrapment and negatively affect the final finish.

Vetotop DecoFloor Primer should be applied directly onto the prepared substrate using a brush, roller, or airless spray equipment. It is essential to apply the product in a uniform, thin layer to promote optimal adhesion and avoid excessive build-up or pooling, particularly in low spots or uneven areas. Care must be taken to work the primer well into the surface, especially on rough or porous substrates, to ensure full penetration and sealing.

Once applied, the primer must be left to dry until it reaches a tack-free condition before proceeding with the application of any subsequent layers within the DecoFloor Granite system.

The overcoating interval may vary depending on ambient temperature and humidity conditions, but under normal circumstances, it is recommended to wait between 8 to 12 hours at 23°C. Application should always be done in controlled conditions, avoiding exposure to dust, moisture, or direct sunlight during the curing process.

Full curing is achieved after 24 hours. Curing times may vary depending on ambient temperature, humidity, and substrate condition.

All tools should be cleaned with Vetonit Solvent XX400 immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
