Vetotop DecoFloor Binder
High performance, two-component, epoxy binder for decorative quartz mortars and screeds.
Vetotop DecoFloor Binder is a high performance, two-component turbid epoxy resin with low viscosity, strong mechanical properties, and excellent clarity. Designed for decorative flooring, it creates a robust surface and performs reliably in tropical and high-temperature conditions.
When combined with Vetotop DecoFloor Quartz, it forms a high-strength decorative screed or mortar with a textured, anti-slip finish. The system offers excellent abrasion, impact resistance, and load-bearing capacity, making it ideal for public, commercial, and industrial applications.

Uses
- Ideal as a binder for aesthetic, textured finishes using colored quartz or flake aggregates in commercial and residential interiors.
- Suitable for food and pharmaceutical production areas flooring that resists chemical spills and supports frequent cleaning in HACCP-sensitive environments.
- Appropriate for showrooms and retail spaces withstanding heavy foot traffic and wear in customer-facing spaces.
- Withstands abrasion, impact, and exposure to oils, solvents, and temperature fluctuations in heavy-use industrial production and processing facilities.
- Ideal for hospitals, laboratories, clean rooms.
Advantages
- Low VOC content.
- Low-yellowing.
- Easy to apply.
- Multi-purpose usage.
- Excellent mechanical strength.
- Excellent abrasion, impact, and chemical resistance.
- Aesthetic clarity.
- Tropical climate suitability.
- Low viscosity ensures deep penetration into substrates and easy mixing with fillers and aggregates.
Usage Instructions
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, grease, curing compounds, coatings, or any surface contaminants that may affect adhesion. Any high spots should be removed by mechanical grinding, and all loose or friable material must be thoroughly eliminated using vacuuming and/or brushing.
The concrete substrate must be structurally sound with a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm2 and a pulloff strength of at least 1.5 N/mm2.
Proper surface preparation is critical to ensure optimal bonding and long-term performance of Vetotop DecoFloor Binder.
Vetotop DecoFloor Binder is supplied as a two-component product ready for on-site mixing. Prior to mixing, stir Part A (base) thoroughly using a low-speed mechanical stirrer. Add the full contents of Part B (hardener) to Part A and mix continuously for approximately 2 minutes until a homogeneous blend is achieved. To ensure complete mixing, transfer the mixture into a clean container and mix again briefly. Avoid over-mixing to prevent air entrapment.
If a third component (such as a filler) is to be added, incorporate it only after Parts A and B have been properly mixed. For slurry applications, use a 1:1 ratio of binder to quartz filler; for wearing courses, use a 1:5-6 ratio. Mix again for 2 minutes until fully uniform.
When preparing decorative mortars, add the premixed binder to the quartz aggregates and mix until consistent. Use a low-speed electric stirrer (250 rpm) for liquid components and a forced-action mixer (pan or paddle type) for mortar preparations. Free-fall mixers are not suitable and must be avoided.
Apply Vetotop DecoFloor Binder using a notched trowel, roller, or squeegee depending on the system design. For decorative screeds or mortars, the mixed binder and quartz aggregate should be applied evenly onto the prepared substrate and compacted using suitable tools such as trowels or screed bars.
For broadcast systems, immediately broadcast the selected quartz or flake aggregate to excess onto the wet binder. Ensure full coverage and allow the binder to self-level and penetrate the substrate. Work in sections, maintaining wet edges to avoid lap marks. Once cured, any excess aggregate should be removed before applying a seal coat if required.
Application must be carried out under controlled environmental conditions, avoiding high humidity, condensation, or extreme temperatures. Always ensure that the substrate temperature remains at least 3°C above the dew point during application.
Curing times depend on ambient conditions such as temperature and humidity. At +20°C, Vetotop DecoFloor Binder is typically touch-dry within 12 hours, can receive light foot traffic after approximately 24 hours, and reaches full mechanical and chemical resistance after 7 days.
All tools should be cleaned with Vetonit Solvent XX400 immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
